Yes, it's as good as you've heard it was. This gritty YA Novel is action packed, yet manages to keep the central character very authentic. Set in a dystopian world where the children are pitted against one another in 'games' of endurance, The Hunger Games is reminiscent of such books as 1984 and Lord of the Flies. In some ways, the reader becomes like the viewers of the game: eager to see how things turn out. You want to root for the heroine, while at the same time, you realize that the other children playing are being murdered for entertainment. A thoroughly engrossing read.
